Late Interest Tryouts
We will post dates in October for late interest tryouts. Please note that late interest tryouts will only be available in the event we have openings on a team, so it is important to make the original tryout date.

Who Can Try Out: Any home schooled student (or a traditionally-schooled student whose school does not offer basketball), 6th grade to 12th grade. It is the age eligibility policy of Greenville Hurricanes that athletes for the 2019/2020 school year do not turn 11 after 9/1/19 and do not turn 19 before 7/1/19. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees.  If you have any ideas for raising funds, please let us know. We will provide some additional, ongoing ways for individual players to raise money to offset program-related costs.

Other Important Dates:

  • 9/7 - Teams will be announced
  • 9/7 - 9/11 - Online registration open
  • 9/9 - Mandatory Parent/Player Meeting - (Payment, Physical and Birth Certificate turned in - see below for more info)
  • 9/16 - Practices begin
  • 10/28 - Uniform Payment Due

Practice Schedule:
The practice schedule will vary based on game schedules and gym availability. We will post a schedule of practice dates and times as well as having them in the SI app for easy tracking.

Game Schedule:  Will be available on your Sports Illustrated Play app after registering online.

Registration Fees:
Parents: Our goal is to develop a program that provides a competitive environment while giving the players the opportunity for development.

As we did last year, we are breaking up the fees into two parts:

  1. the amount due for registration, and
  2. the amount each athlete will need to generate in donations/fundraisers before Nov 1st

Boys basketball registration fees cover the following costs:

  1. Administrative expenses to support the team (insurance, personnel, etc.)
  2. Operations - facilities expenses, officials, equipment
  3. Participation in the 2019/2020 season
  4. Free access to the games for mom, dad, and siblings

JVB/VB -
$100 + $100 fundraising

  • Due September 9 = $100
  • Due before first game = $100 fundraising/donations

MSB  -
$75 + $100 fundraising

  • Due September 9 = $75
  • Due before first game = $100 fundraising/donations

Fundraising:
This is a critical aspect of our program. With more time available between tryouts and the first game, it will allow everyone time to raise money. We will have individual and group initiatives that each player can use to raise funds to reduce the cost of the program-related fees. If you have any ideas for raising funds, please let us know. We will provide some additional ongoing ways for individual players to raise money to offset program related costs.

Boy's Basketball Uniforms:  All teams will use the same jerseys as last year. If you are new, below are the costs.

  • JV/Varsity Team Uniforms - Will require purchase of a uniform for $115
  • MS Team Uniforms - Will require purchase of a uniform for $70.
