Hurricane Sports offers soccer in the spring. The sport is offered for home schooled students, as well as traditionally schooled students whose school does not offer soccer.
Our season is open for boys and girls at the JV, Varsity levels and Middle School levels. Teams will be filled in the following order: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School. Tryouts begin the end of January, followed by registration the first part of February. Games begin the middle part of February and continue until the first part of May.
Games are generally no further than 1 hour away, and it is the parents' responsibility to get their athlete to the games, although car pooling is encouraged and often available.
Soccer Families ~ ~ It looks like we may have enough girls this season to have separate JVG and VG teams. If you are at all interested in playing on a JVG team, make sure you show up for tryouts!!

HURRICANE SOCCER TRYOUTS!!
We are pleased to announce our Spring 2017 Soccer tryouts. Please read all the information below and e-mail us with any questions.
When are tryouts?
Monday, January 9th, 5-6:30 pm - NOW CANCELED
Tuesday, January 10th, 5-6:30 pm
Thursday, January 12th, 5-6:30 pm
Saturday, January 14th, 10:00-11:30 am
How many of the tryout dates do I need to attend?
Players should attend as many tryout dates as possible for an adequate evaluation. If returning players have conflicts with the tryout dates, you must make tryout arrangements with the coaches. Our intent is to announce teams on Saturday 14th, so please attend the earliest available tryouts in case of poor January weather.
Where will tryouts be held?
We will be holding tryouts at the Kroc Center (424 Westfield St, Greenville). Players are encouraged to arrive early. Tryouts will begin promptly at 5pm with organized warmups and stretching. Please arrive early and account for traffic going downtown.
Will there be someone to answer questions?
The coaching staff will be available for player/parent questions after tryouts, but there will also be administrative personnel at the fields.
What should I bring to tryouts?
Please bring shin guards, cleats, a soccer ball and drinking water. All players are required to wear shin guards during tryouts and practice. There will be plenty of individual drills, so we are asking players to bring their own soccer balls if they already own one. Also, the Player Information Form (see link below) must be presented prior to tryouts. This gives us contact information and a medical release for each athlete.

What teams will be offered this spring?
We've had a large tryout participation over the last few seasons, and we are expecting the same this season for both our young men's and young women's teams. Varsity games have been scheduled, and based on player/coach availability, teams will be filled in the following order: Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Middle School. All potential Hurricane players are encouraged to attend the tryouts. However, please be aware that the Junior Varsity teams of our opponents will have 9th & 10th graders on their teams.
What are the recommended ages for tryouts?
Varsity - 8th to 12th grade
Junior Varsity - 6th to 10th grade
Middle School - 6th to 8th grade
What is the Registration Information?
Registration is online and will open as soon as teams are announced. The Initial Team Meeting will be held on Monday, January 16th at the Taylors First Baptist Ministry Building from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. All team members will turn in remaining paperwork and make payment and then officially kick-off the season with some information sharing from the leadership team.

What is the Cost For the Season?
Costs will be approximately $250 for the Varsity teams and $200 for the JV teams. (Cost reduced from last year.) Cost may be influenced by number of athletes on the teams.
*** New this year, players will be required to purchase their own uniform. The cost is approximately $100. It is planned that we will use this uniform for four years, which will allow for uniforms to be sold after the season or passed down to future Hurricanes.
Payment Plan - For those families that would benefit from a payment plan, information is below. Please note that if you choose to use the payment plan, all post-dated checks are due at registration.
Varsity - $100 at registration / $75 post-dated for 2/1 / $75 post-dated for 2/15
JV - $100 at registration / $50 post-dated for 2/1 / $50 post-dated for 2/15
